REFLECTION
I have learned so much throughout this research process about the criminal justice system and mental illnesses. I realize now that this issue isn't as massive as I once thought it was. I realize now that the primary problem with mental instability not being accepted in court is due to a lack of knowledge about what cracks in the psyche can do to a person, and how it can affect their every day activities. I originally assumed that insubordination in regards to accepting mental illness was the primary problem across all courts, yet this is only true in a small number of courts and isn't the only cause of the overarching issue. Throughout this project I was introduced to a multitude of new concepts and new solutions which I had never even fathomed, and I feel that this has helped to brighten my scope and viewpoint of how the justice system and mental illness coincide.
